If you’re looking for a color printer that can handle a bit of everything - and isn’t too bulky - then this HP model is a great choice. With a 2.7-inch touchscreen, HP Smart app compatibility and a 22 pages per minute print rate, this model is easy to use and efficient. It can’t scan and copy like some other printers, but the best thing about this model is how well it does the basic things. We also like the fact that it weighs just 33 pounds and it can handle both Mac and Windows machines. It’s not the cheapest laser printer out there, but it’s a workhorse.

Brother HL-L3270CDW

If you want something a little more affordable - perhaps for a home office - then this Brother model is reasonably priced and yet still jam-packed with features. As with the aforementioned HP model, this printer also features a 2.7-inch touchscreen and cloud printing capabilities, but it actually has a slightly larger pages per minute rate, at 25 pages. We like the fact that it has a large 250-sheet capacity paper tray too, which ensures you don’t have to worry about running out of paper during a big printing job.

The Deluxe

This machine may not be the fastest, with a 28 pages per minute print speed, but for what it lacks in speed it makes up for in overall versatility. Ideal for small businesses, this HP machine offers particularly impressive color reproduction, even on glossy photo paper. It also has impressive security settings - ideal for use with sensitive documents in an office environment - and has a large recommended monthly volume figure of 4,000 pages. It’s quite a pricey option, but you get a lot of bang for your buck with this one.

The Monochrome King

Canon Imageclass LBP226dw

So what about if you just want to print in black and white? Well that’s easy, go for the Canon Imageclass. It may only print monochrome documents, but the print quality it offers is outstanding. Plus, it prints really fast, at around twice the speed of a color printer, at 40 pages per minute. For those who need to tackle really big printing jobs or just like having plenty of paper at hand, its regular 350 sheet capacity can be extended to 900 sheets for an additional price. Overall, this printer is pretty affordable to run too.

Before we reveal our final pick, we wanted to give a few other laser printers a shout out:

Brother MFC-L3770CDW

Lexmark B2236dw

HP LaserJet Pro M15w

The Budget Pick

Brother MFC-L2750DW

Laser printers are not cheap, so finding a truly “budget” pick that’s still versatile, can be tough. However, this monochrome Brother model is a bit of a hidden gem. Not only does it offer great quality black and white printing at a rate of 36 pages per minute, but it also boasts copying and scanning capabilities. If you have a home office, or a small work office, and need a good all-in-one option, this is an excellent choice - and it just so happens to be extremely affordable too.

So which laser printer should you choose? Well, whether you need color is going to be a massive factor here. And based on our research, it seems like HP rules the color printing market, while Brother has got the monochrome side of things covered. So you can perhaps go by brand, depending on what you’re after, to help make the buying process a little less confusing.
